She was transferred to HKT48 by producer Yasushi Akimoto on June 16, 2012 , in response to a scandal involving the leak of partially nude pictures by a former friend allegedly featuring her.
Sashihara ranked 1st at the AKB48 32nd Single Senbatsu Election and ranked 2nd at the AKB48 37th Single Senbatsu Election.
